Jane Shelden Kelley, 99, Brighton Gardens, Prairie Village, Kan., passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014.

A Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at The Second Presbyterian Church, 318 E. 55th Street, Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church or to the charity of your choice.

Jane was born April 15, 1915, in Kansas City. She attended Southwest High School, Sullins College in Bristol, Va., and the University of Missouri, Columbia where she received a B.S. in Education. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Jane was an avid golfer, a staunch Republican, a dedicated community volunteer and most importantly, a great wife and mother. She was a member of The Second Presbyterian Church and Mission Hills Country Club.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Frank Elwin Shelden, Jeannette Smith Shelden and Mathilde Dallmeyer Shelden; her brothers, Dr. F. Copeland Shelden and Dr. Russell D. Shelden; and her husband of 51 years, Charles Lyon Kelley. She is survived by her children, Ray S. James, David C. Kelley (Janice), Janet K. Kelley and Nancy J. Kelley and grandchildren, Caroline Richardson (Matt) and Christopher P. Kelley.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the caregivers at Brighton Gardens for the love and kindness that they extended to Jane over the past four years.
