Judge William Elver Stone, 72, was born in Young County, Texas near the old McCann Bridge on the Timmons farm next to the Brooks farm, 10 miles west of Graham, Texas

Services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church. He moved to Galveston, Texas in 1918. Judge Stone received his early education in Young County attending the Mount Pleasant community school until he reached High School. He graduated from Graham High School in 1914. Judge Stone was granted a license to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas on 1 September 1928. He served for eight years as state senator of the 17th Senatorial district and was named a special judge in 1953 to served the 56th District Court.

Survived by his wife; two sisters - Mrs. Alvin K Beard and Miss Beulah Stone. He was a nephew of Lewis Pinkney "Pink" Brooks; second cousin of L.W. Brooks; two aunts - Stella Mundell and Mrs. W.R. Gay.
