His parents were John and Martha Patsy Stigall Hays Bobbitt. He was apparently married on December 5, 1872 to Miss Alice Bell Conn as shown in his marriage information below. In the 1880 Census it does not list a wife, it list him as divorced and his mother is living with him information below. He apparently married a second time in Lexington to Miss Lula Shropshire on February 5, 1887, information below. However the 1890 Census shows him as widowed living with his sister and a servant, also below He was a lawyer. He died in a hospital in Lexington, but his usual place of residence was Lincoln Co., KY.

NOTED MOUNTAIN ORATOR AND POLITICIAN DEAD. Hon. Fountain Fox Bobbitt, the "Cicero of the Mountains," lawyer, orator, scholar and legislator, died at the age of seventy-nine 'at the Eastern Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Friday night, but the fact was not known locally until Monday night. Mr. Bobbitt represented Lincoln county, in the Legislature, was once a candidate for Congress from the old Eighth District, and was in great demand as a public speaker at every celebration or political gathering in this section of the State. He practiced in all the courts of this section, and because of his flowry oratory, was known as the "Cicero of the Mountains." Some time ago his mind began to weaken, and he was sent -o the Eastern Kentucky Hospital, at Lexington, where he remained until the end. He had no near living relatives, and the body was sent to his former home in Crab Orchard for burial.

FOXTAINE FOX BOBBITT HAS PASSER AWAY Stanford, Ky., Nov. 5. Fontaine Fox Bobbitt, who represented this county in the legislature and held several other offices, was buried at Crab Orchard Sunday, his death having occurred in the Lexington asylum, where he was taken in April. Mr. Bobbitt had probably the most remarkable memory of any man in the country, knowing by heart the first four books of the New Testament and being able to quote from memory many dozens of Chapters In the Old Testament. He was known all over Kentucky as the "Cicero of the Mountains." He was never married and outlived all of His Bood relatives.

Sent to the Asylum. Hon. Fontaine Fox Bobbitt, known all over the State as the "Cicero of the Mountains, was tried on a sanity writ before Judge James B. Bailey Saturday and declared of unsound mind. He was taken to the Lexington asylum that afternoon by Frank Brooks and Levi Bell, of Crab Orchard. . For some time Mr. Bobbitt had shown signs of mental decay, but of late it had been very apparent. He made his home with Mr. and Mrs. John Payne, of Crab Or chard, and they have had considerable trouble in keeping him there. Only a few days ago he started out Walking to Mt. Vernon, saying he was going there to court, where he had important business. He was found far out on the road, nearly exhausted from the walk. He Is eighty years old. Interior Journal.
