Elizabeth Brown Klahn was born near Huffman Mills in Spencer county, Indiana on October 7, 1869. She attended The Little Red School near Huffman Mill and St. John Evangelical Lutheran School near New Boston. She was confirmed March 18, 1883 by Rev. Ludwig Detzer. She was a devoted Christian. She was a member of the ladies Aid for 39 years. She was united in marriage to William Klahn, December 27, 1892 and to this union two daughter were born. She spent her entire married life in New Boston. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Anna Hempling and one granddaughter Emma Hempfling., nephews William Gebhard of Rockport, John Gebhard of Lafayette and a niece Anna Haenggi of Olney, IL, and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. To know her was to love her. She separated this life, August 15 1947, just quietly going to sleep. She was 77 years 10 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held August 18 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church. New Boston. Rev. Otto Mueller was in Charge of the services. Burial was in the church cemetery.
