Christian George Carlson
The people of Dovre and vicinity were shocked to learn of the death of Christian Carlson, the son of Martin Carlson of Dovre, which occurred in a hospital in Boulder, Colo. August 10, where he had gone for his health.
Mr. Carlson has been in poor health for the past year with tuberculosis, and went to Colorado this spring to try the dry climate.
Mr. Carlson was born and raised in Dovre, and was an industrious farmer. He was always an active member in all church work having been a member of the choir for 25 years. He was held in high esteem by all those who knew him for his honest and upright character.
Christian Carlson was born in 1881, and was 40 years of age at the time of his death. In 1911 he was married to Miss Hansine Thur, and to this union were born five children, Ingrid, Fitjof, Borghild, Signe and Gudrun.
Besides the widow and children, he is survived by his father, Martin Carlson, two sisters; Mrs. N.E. Hanson, and Miss Mary Carlson, and one brother, Sigurd Carlson all of Dovre. Two sisters died at the age of 6 years, and a brother preceded him in death 4 years ago.
The funeral was held at the Dovre Lutheran church, Rev. Lund officiating. Hundreds of people gathered from far and near to pay their last respects to a good loving father, and a worthy citizen.
