He grew up on a farm, learning to be a helper on the farm to his father and inside the house to his mother.
Paul graduated from the Bowling Green High School in Clay County, IN. He worked for a while at the Farm Bureau until he broke his back. Because of this, he was unable to join the military and fight in WWII. He went to school and studied Drafting during this time period. He later worked for the Crosley Corporation as a Design Engineer.
Paul married Pauline Schafer on March 25, 1944.
He was the loving father of Donald Paul and Daniel Lee. His grandchildren are Stephanie Melton, Paul Woodburn, Theresa Hamden, and Rebecca Woodburn.
He died in 1977 at age 59 after a fall which broke his hip.
