Armstrong, Ella M., 88, of Boise, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at a Boise care center. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel. Published in Idaho Statesman on October 11, 2012.


Ella M. Armstrong 1924 ~ 2012 Ella M. Armstrong passed away at a local care facility on October 10, 2012. Ella was born in Nyssa, Oregon on February 11, 1924 to Gordon and Pearl Dickson. She spent her early years growing up on a ranch in Ironside, Oregon. She lived away from her family while going to high school and graduated from Vale Union High School. She married Robert Carman on November 22, 1953 and they resided in Vale, Oregon. Their daughter, Vicki, was born on December 13, 1956. Ella worked for Vale Grain & Seed and the Malheur County Clerks Office. She also helped Robert and Vicki run the small farm in Vale. Robert passed away in 1975. She continued working until she married Ralph Armstrong on August 25, 1977. Ralph and Ella did a lot of fishing and cooking in their retirement years. Ralph passed away in 1988. She moved to Boise in 1998 be be closer to her daughter. She loved gardening, crafts and going shopping with her daughter. Her pioneering spirit and feisty attitude will be missed by her surviving family: Daughter Vicki Kinter, Son-In-Law Dave Kinter, Sisters Helen, Norma and Hazel and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank Dr. Geraldo Perez, Dr. Karl Schulthesis, and the team at the St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Center, Brittany and Josie from Horizon Hospice. A private family interment will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Summers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society .
