Detective Jeffrey E. Towers, DSN 0054, was hired as a Police Cadet on 10/22/1973. In this capacity he held various assignments to supplement the positions of commissioned police officers. He first assignment was at the Saint Louis Police Departments Academy. He remained there until he was transferred to the Communications Division on 11/19/1973.
On 10/07/1974 he was commissioned as a Police Officer and entered the academy for training. After the academy he served in the Mobile Reserve Section, 2Nd District, 5Th District, 2Nd District, Juvenile Division, 2Nd District, and the 2Nd District Detective Bureau. After the consolidation of all of the neighborhood District Stations into the new Command Stations, Detective Towers served in the newly formed Area 1 South Patrol Detective Division. He remained in this position until he retired on 09/11/1995. When he retired he had 21.89 years of faithful dedication to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Jeffrey Evans Towers, of St. Louis, MO, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the age of 58.
Dear son of Jacqueline L. and the late Woodrow Evans Towers; dear brother of Dennis (Susan) Sheets, Timothy (Kimberly) Towers, and Lisa (John) Hellmann; and beloved uncle of Matthew, Jonathan, Morgan, Emma, Andrew and Madeline. Jeff was a Detective at St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for many years. He was deeply loved and will be missed. Memorial donations may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
