ALEXANDER SMILLIE


Alexander W. Smillie, 82, of Brighton, formerly of Iowa, died Aug. 21 at the Wayne Total Living Center in Wayne.


He was born March 15, 1915, in Hocking, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Eliza (Watt) Smillie. He was married to Ann and she preceded him in death.


Prior to his retirement in 1970, he had been employed as a service technician for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company for 25 years.


Survivors include one son, Ronald Smillie; one daughter, Cheryl Racicot, both of Brighton; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.


Funeral services were Aug. 23 at Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton. Rev. David Speicher, St. John Catholic Church, Hartland, officiating. Cremation followed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association and envelopes are available at the funeral home.
