John Flagler is the son of Simon Flagler, b. 16 Feb 1714 at West Camp, Ulster, New York, d. 29 Nov 1774 at Charlotte Precinct, Dutchess, New York, and his wife Jannetje Viele, b. 8 Feb 1716 at Dutchess County, New York, d. 1763.
Simon Flagler is the son of Zacharias Flagler, b. 1676 at Wertheim, Mosbach, Frankenland, Germany, d. Mar 1720 at
Dutchess County, New York, and his third wife Anna Elizabeth Hobin, b. abt 1683 at Walheim, Rheinhessen, Hessen, Germany, d. 1728 at Dutchess County, New York.
Zacharias Flagler came to the United States in the Great Palatine Migration of 1710 with his first wife, Anna Elizabeth Hess, whom he married on 13 Jul 1700 at Wertheim, Mosbach, Baden, Germany, and their three children. She and two of the children died aboard ship off the coast of Long Island. Zacharias married his second wife Anna Gertrauda Hun on 15 Aug 1710. They had no children. He married Anna Elizabeth Hobin on 12 Mar 1711 at West Camp, Ulster, New York. They had five children.
