Mrs. Hurst was a manager for many years at JC Penny in Indianapolis and in Martinsville. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, traveling and dancing with the Murat Ladies Shriner Dancers, of which she was also a member.
She leaves behind her family including of one daughter, Sharon Higbee (husband, Melvin) of Poland, IN; one brother, Charles Hamilton (wife, JoAnn) of Plainfield, IN; grandson, Barry Hovious (wife, Lydia) of North Vernon, IN; granddaughter, Kelli Bastin (husband, Mark) of Martinsville, IN and five great grandchildren, Maqenzi and Madalyn Hovious, Jessica, RoseMary and Tyler Bastin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Hurst; two brothers, Herman and Lem Hamilton; two sisters, Nanny Lyons and Hazel Parra and one great granddaughter, Brenna Bastin.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, October 8th, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm and Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. Pastor David Zemple will officiate the celebration of life service on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
