Chet served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 to 1948 and in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1973. He was very proud to serve his country as he was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam in 1970.
Born in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Chester and Mary Talbott, Chet was very active in church work over the course of his life. He served as an elder in both the Churches of Christ in Frankfurt, Germany, and in Hewitt. He had the privilege of serving as minister at the Hewitt Church and the Church in Boomer, W.Va. He was also active in mission work going to such places as Switzerland, Canada, and California, as well as helping to establish the church of Christ in Woodbridge, Va., in 1962.
Immediate survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rose (Nolke) Talbott: six children, Linda Farley and husband, Jim, of Louisa, Ky., David Talbott and wife, Kathy, of Lubbock, Cathy Henderson and husband, Brent, of Hood River, Ore., Sandra Ford and husband, Wayne, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Steven Talbott and wife, Gina, of Montgomery, Texas, and Glenn Talbott and wife, Lori, of Temple. Chet was Grandpa to 12 grandchildren, and great-grandpa to 10 great-grandchildren. Other survivors are his sisters, Judy Carpenter of Florida, and Mary Jo Milam of New Jersey.
