Gnadt, John Alex (Feb. 8, 1893-Nov. 27, 1975 –husband of Olive Goetz [married Oct. 13, 1914 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of Albert Gnadt and Mary Hartlaub –mechanic at Miller Implement –operated a Pure Oil service station at 16804 County C in Section 19, Town of Liberty from 1935 to the mid 1940’s –from April 27, 1927 to Oct. 16, 1934 owned the house at 113 South Third Avenue in St. Nazianz –on Oct. 16, 1934 purchased the house at 16804 County C in Section 19, Town of Liberty –the barn on this lot was then converted into a Pure Oil Service Station, which John ran until his sons went into the military in the early 1940’s –owned this house until selling to his son Alois Gnadt on July 1, 1947 –on May 17, 1946 purchased his father’s house at 208 East Main Street in St. Nazianz –lived in this house until his death in 1975 –his widow Olive continued to live here until selling on Feb. 19, 1983 –died from “coronary thrombosis –myocardial infarction”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 5, Row 2, Lot 20] [marriage record Manitowoc 11-563] [death record Manitowoc 76-150]

JOHN GNADT, 82, of St. Nazianz, died unexpectedly Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home and at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Cyril Dickrell will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gnadt was born Feb. 8, 1893, at Manitowoc, son of the late Albert and Mary Hartlaub Gnadt. He was educated in Manitowoc schools. He married Mary (Olive) Guetz, Oct. 13, 1914, at St. Nazianz, residing at St. Nazianz. He was a mechanic all his life, working at Miller Implement Co., St Nazianz, before retiring 17 years ago. He then worked part time as engineer for the village of St. Nazianz.
Survivors include this wife, five sons, George of Manitowoc, Alois and John of Milwaukee, Bernard of St. Nazianz and Jerome, of Menomonee Falls, three daughters, Mrs. John (Marie) Domagalski of Menomonee Falls, Ruth Gnadt and Mrs. Robert (Adeline) Martin of Chicago, 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sons, two daughters, a brother, two sisters and a grandson preceded him in death.
