Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Rev. Gerald Walker, OFM Cap. will offiicate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
Sister Bernard Killian, nee Cecilia Killian, was born July 18, 1899, at Kaukauna, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Adam and Anna Lohmann Killian. She entered the Order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1918 and professed her vows in 1921. Sister Bernard graduated from Holy Family Academy, receiving her B.S. Degree from Michigan State Normal College and her Masters Degree in Education from Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sister taught grade school at Greenleaf, Appleton, and St. Boniface at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She also taught high school at Ironwood, Michigan, West Point, Nebraska, Delaware, Cambridge, and Zanesville, Ohio, and Potosi and Waukesha, Wisconsin. Sister Bernard retired in 1974, returning to Holy Family Convent.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph Killian and Jacob and Leone Killian of Kaukauna, and Peter and Mildred Killian of Jackson, Michigan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Baue of Shiocton, Wisconsin, and Othilia and Erwin Carpenter of Shawano.
Friends may call at Holy Family Convent, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
