William served in the United States Army for three years where after he became a member of the National Guard for seven years. "Wild Bill" as his co-workers knew him was employed at Waupaca Foundry for 29 years before taking a leave for his illness and remained active with the company functions after retiring.
William married Judy Salewsky on March 7, 1997, in Marinette.
He enjoyed being outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time at home in his garden and going to camp for the weekends. William will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
William is survived by his wife, Judy;
three brothers: Dave and Dwayne Zarling and Reuben Behrendt;
nieces and nephews;
his ex-wife, Gail (Haines) Behrendt of Marinette, Wis.;
daughter, Deborah (Kollin Scully) Palzewicz;
son, Kim (Melissa) Behrendt;
step-daughter, Denise (Ryan) Behnke;
step-son, Brian;
nine grandchildren: Aliyah Palzewicz, Autumn and Avery Scully, Seth, Hannah, Kaylee, and Gabe Behrendt, Ashley Beaudo and Devin Behnke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John "Jack" Behrendt.
Family, friends and co-workers may call at Thielen Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. with Deacon Bruce Corey officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
