Mary Ada Wheatley, my great-grandmother, was born on November 13, 1887, in Union County, Kentucky. Her father, Thomas, was 41 and her mother, Mary, was 36. Her father died in 1890. By 1900 her had moved her family to Carlisle County, Kentucky, where she lived the rest of her life.
She married Fenton Gupton on December 6, 1903, in Cairo, Illinois. They had seven children. She died on November 10, 1957, in Paducah, Kentucky, at the age of 69, and was buried in Bardwell, Kentucky.
I remember visiting Grandma Gupton when our family would visit from Detroit. I loved the big house and the sweetgum trees in the front yard.
