The traffic death toll for Springfield and vicinity during a 24 hour period reached three yesterday with the deaths of a 3-year-old boy and a 70-year-old woman.
The woman, Mrs. Mathilda Krebs, 2104 East Lawrence avenue, died at 9 a.m. yesterday of injuries sustained when she was struck by a truck last Monday.
She was born in Germany, July 16, 1875, and was married to Victor Krebs in that country in 1896.
Mrs. Krebs came to this country in 1902 and settled for a short time in Pennsylvania. She had made her home here since 1905.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart church and the Altar and Rosary society.
Surviving are her husband, Victor; six daughters, Mrs. Cecelia Samonds, Mrs. Hedwig Vose, Mrs. Agnes Burt, Mrs. Martha Connelly, Mrs. Bertha Richards, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Helen Strainis, Riverton; two sons, Paul and Carl, Springfield; 29 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Remains were removed to Staab funeral home where funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart church, Rev. John J. Goff officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
