ROCKY POINT -- Evelyn "Dixie" B. Scott, 90, passed gently to her eternal rest on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born February 17, 1921 in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Julius B. and Naomi Barnhill Baker. She was blessed with long life; outliving her three spouses, David J. Anders III died in 1949, Thurman C. Anders died in 1969 and Elmer J. Scott died in 1998.

Dixie is survived by her sons, Alton T. Anders (Patsy) of Greenville and David J. Anders IV of Castle Hayne; daughters, Judy A. Thomas (Glenn) of Wilmington, Ann A. Williamson (William) of Ocean Isle Beach, Ann S. Huffman (Virgil) of Clayton and Jean Brent Scott of Matthews; grandchildren, Bryan Huffman (Duffy), Jacob Huffman (Katherine), Kristie Veasey (Thomas), Leigh Anne Wright (Brett), Kenan Anders (Nicole), Amber Anders, Brian Anders, James Page, Audrey Williamson and Grainger Williamson; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Clarence Baker of Atkinson; sisters, Joan Moses of Clifford, MI, Grace Malpass of Stafford, VA, Louise Barrow of New Bern and Sandra Horrell of Wilmington and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Scott was a long time faithful member of McClure Memorial Presbyterian Church where she received an Honorary Life Membership of Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church USA.

Dixie was truly a gracious Southern lady who loved her family dearly. She was always sharing, giving, caring, soft spoken and lived her life according to her Christian beliefs. Dixie was a meticulous homemaker, a grand cook and always made you feel welcome in her home. The fondest of memories of Dixie will always remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Harmony Presbyterian Church with C.L.P. Herbert Pate, The Rev. Virgil Huffman and C.L.P. Denise Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401 or to McClure Memorial Presbyterian Church, PO Box 246, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
