CHARLES WILLIAM AMBROSE

Charles William Ambrose, 79, died in Memorial Hospital here Tuesday morning, April 3, where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had been in ill health for some time and quite ill for the past ten days.

A son of the late Mathias and Nannie Foutz Ambrose, he was born in Morgan county February, 11, 1877. He was a retired school teacher having taught in Morgan county for 33 years. He was employed by the State Road Commission for several years and in recent years had operated an automobile service station on South Washingon Street. He was a member of the Oakland Methodist Church and the P.O.S. of A.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Fanny Newbraugh, whom he married on January 25, 1905, are three sons--The Rev. Charles W. Ambrose, Jr., of Alderson; Raymond, Berkeley Springs and Chester, of White Sulphur Spring; two brothers--Tommy Ambrose, Akron, Ohio, and James, of Berkeley Springs; three sisters--Mrs. Kansas Hovermale, Mrs. Clarence Yost and Mrs. Cecil Yost, all of Berkeley Springs; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The body was removed from the Parks Funeral Home to the Oakland Methodist Church in time for services at 1:30 today (Thursday) with the Revs. Earl C. Day, of Staunton, Va., Earl C. Bateman and Charles Reckley officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland cemetery.

Bearers are W. B. Simmons, H. D. Beeler, Ward M. Dawson, Jannie G. Shade, Harry Luttrell and Clifton C. Dyche, Jr.
