Daughter of Henry Madison and Laura Jane (Hobbs) Davis born on August 13, 1920 in Abilene, KS. For the first year of her life she lived in a sod house in the sand hills in Hooker County, NE. The family then moved back to KS to the Manhattan area where they ran or lived in a boarding house and then to the Wetmore and Circleville area where they farmed.

When Vivian was 14, after the 1934-1935 school year, she quit school to help care for her ailing mother. After her mother passed away in 1938, she resumed her schooling and graduated from Circleville High School in 1942. During the war she moved to the Kansas City area and took training from the National Defense Training Program in Blue Print Reading and Drawing. During this time she worked in the war industry at the Vendo Company, who, during the war, manufactured radar units for airplanes. After the war was over Vivian went to college at Kansas State University, and other colleges, and taught school.

While teaching at the Eureka Rural Grade School north of Holton, KS, she met Oliver Leatherman, who was working on road construction. They were married Dec. 24, 1951 in Lebo, KS by her brother Paul Davis, who was a Methodist minister.

They lived in Bancroft for a time and then moved to Woodlawn, where he was a minister for the Pilgrim Holiness church and she continued to teach in the area. Their daughter, Linda, was born while they were living in Woodlawn in 1957. In 1958 they moved to Toronto, KS to take care of the local Pilgrim Holiness church. Their son, Lorren, was born a few months after they arrived.

Vivian became ill and passed away on November 30, 1964. She is interred at the Toronto cemetery near Toronto, KS.
