Vaudeville performer. Author of biographies, "Thomas Gilcrease: Founder of the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art," and "Will Rogers: The Cherokee Kid." He served as a member of the Will Rogers Commission for more than sixteen years. In 1990, he was awarded the Oklahoma Heritage Distinguished Service Award for the preservation of state and local history. He was born before statehood so he always said he was born in Coalgate, Indian Territory and made sure that was on his passport. He got to know Will Rogers when they were both doing vaudeville performances in Detroit.
