William was born in Chicago and lived there all of his life until he enlisted in the Marines 10 November 1964, at the Forest Park Recruiting Office.

William arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to 3rd Platoon of Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd

Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division and became the radioman for platoon commander Lt McFarlard.

William died as a result of a gunshot wound to his nose that exited the right temple while in combat at Hill 881 N and in the vicinity of Huong Hoa and 8 kilometers west northwest of Khe Sanh Airfield while participating in Operation Beacon Star.

William was single and served his country for 2 years, 5 months and 22 days and was KIA #11,825.

Tour of duty unknown.

He was 21 years,2 months and 26 days old.

Survived by his mother, Patricia G Vlasak, his sister, Kathryn L and 3 brothers, Dennis, Edward and Plada of 1624 N Artesian Ave, Chicago, Illinois and his father, William J Vlasak Sr of 1919 West Taylor, Chicago, Illinois.

Mass services were held at St Aloysius Church with funeral services conducted by the Edward Funeral Home.
