On September 13, 1837 Julia married John F. Flannery in Philadelphia.
They had 5 children; Annie J. (1842-1915), Mary N. (1846-1918), John F. Jr. (April 1851-June 1851), Jacob Rose (1852-1857) and Julia A. Pray (1855-1913).

Julia, John and their growing family lived in different homes in Philadelphia. When John died from Civil War battle wounds in 1864, Julia lived with one or more of her children. From 1900, until her death in 1906, Julia was living with the family of Samuel W. and daughter Mary N. (Flannery) Ristine, at 2026 North Franklin Street in Philadelphia.

The following death notice was published in the Philadelphia Public Ledger on Friday, August 24, 1906, page 7:
FLANNERY - Suddenly on August 22, 1906, JULIA A. FLANNERY (nee Pray), wife of the late Lieutenant John F. Flannery, in her 87th year. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. precisely. at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Samuel W. Ristine, 2026 N. Franklin St. Interment private."

Cause of death shown on her Death Certificate was Apoplexy (now more commonly known as a stroke).

Julia was buried in American Mechanics Cemetery in Philadelphia.

In 1951 the remains of those buried in that cemetery were removed to Mount Peace Cemetery in Philadelphia, Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge,, and Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer. The remains of John F. and Julia (Pray) Flannery were re-interred in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer.
