Lewis Reed married Hannah Randall 13 March 1822.
By 1834, he was living in the Kent County, Michigan area with his brother Ezra and their families. He and Ezra bought land on the west side of Reeds Lake in 1835 in what is now East Grand Rapids. The lake was named for them.
