Juliet Mitchell (Lanius) Brewer was the daughter of Rev. Jacob Lowness Lanius (1814-1851) and Nancy (Tong) Lanius (1813-1886) of Ralls County, Missouri. Rev. Jacob Lanius was a Methodist circuit rider. A relative states that there is a lot of information on him at the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. There are paintings of Jacob and Nancy Lanius at the University which have been photographed and are on their memorials.

Juliet had the following known siblings:

Daniel Theodore Lanius 1840-1860
William Henry Lanius 1841-1850
John Wesley Lanius 1842-1913
(Memorial 66606495)
Mary Drucilla Lanius 1844-1897
James Andrew Lanius 1846-1930
Jacob Buchanan Lanius 1849-1912
(Memorial 66606461)
Robert Paine Lanius 1851-

In about 1877, Juliet married Rev. Addison L. Brewer from Knox County, Missouri. In the 1880 census, they were living in Cairo, Randolph County, Missouri:

A. L. Brewer 31, minister
J. M. Brewer 32
A. V. Brewer 2
Jessie Brewer 10 months

By 1900, they were living Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri:

A. L. Brewer 51, gospel minister
Juliet M. Brewer 52
Jessie Brewer 20
Basil Brewer 16
Maggie R. Brewer 15
G. F. Bennett 30

This 1900 census shows the Brewers had been married for 23 years and Juliet was the mother of 6 children but only 3 were living at this time.

1910 Census of Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri:

A. L. Brewer 61
Julia N. Brewer 62

No occupations, and married 34 years.

Juliet died in 1918 and was buried in Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri. In the 1920 and 1930 census records, Addison was living in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, with his single daughter Jessie Brewer. Addison died in 1940 and was apparently returned to Missouri for burial beside his wife as they share a tombstone at this cemetery.
