AGED WOMAN OF CHANDLERS DISTRICT CALLED TO FINAL REWARD

MRS. T. S. PAYNE died at her home in Chandlers District last Sunday following a long illness.

Mrs. Payne was 85 years of age and was one of the oldest residents of the section where she lived. She was well known over the county and was loved and respected by scores of friends and acquaintances. She was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church in Oconee County, having united with the church there when she was only 11 years of age. Throughout her long and useful life she was loyal to her church affiliation, serving her neighbors in a truly Christian spirit.

Funeral services were held from Bethabara Baptist church Sunday with Rev. J. W. Cash in charge of the service. Interment was in the church yard cemetery. Sammons Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Payne is survived by 5 sons, J. C. Payne and L. A. Payne of Winder; George Payne of Athens, M. W. Payne of Statham, Gene Payne of Elberton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Henry Hardy of Winder and Mrs. Era Dodson of Jackson, Tennessee. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren.
