Story City, May 25--John Schlegel, aged 70, died at his home five miles west of town Wednesday at 10 a. m., after a months illness. About two weeks ago it is thought that he suffered a stroke as he was paralyzed for several days. He seemed to be improving until Monday when his condition grew worse and became unconscious.

Mr. Schlegel had lived on the same farm for over forty-five years. He was first married to Doretta Reischauer, who died 38 years ago. Later he married her sister, Mary Reischauer. His second wife died 14 years ago.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Hugh Sinn and Mrs. Herman Hubner of Boone, Mrs. Fred Allie of near Stanhope; Leonard Schlegel of Jewell and Howard Schlegel of this place.

The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, Rev. L. L. Orth, conducting. Burial will be made in the Center cemetery.
