Sue was a student at Miss Huff's Business College and pursued further education while attending the Junior College of Kansas City for two years. In addition, she spent 3 1/2 years at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, which was interrupted by her desire to contribute to the war effort in W W ll.
She joined the American Red Cross in Kansas City, Missouri and was sent to Fort Brown, Brownsville, Texas. On July 7, 1943, Fort Brown was transferred to the USAAF Training Command of which she later became the Assistant Field Director. She transferred and was stationed at Camp Wallace outside of Galveston, Texas until the end of war. Her husband, Jack Ewell Brooks, whom she married on September 30, 1944 and was with for 58 years, survived Sue. Her two sons Robert "Michael" and Randy Hall Brooks also survived her.
Active in PTA, Little League Baseball and Cub Scouts, She was considered a loving mother who participated and supported her children in their activities. A talented and gifted person, Sue was masterful in arts and crafts and was an avid reader as illustrated by the hundreds of books adorning her many bookcases. Known for her tenaciousness and straight forwardness, Sue was blessed with a heart deep and rich in goodness. Sue was a member of First Christian Church of Oklahoma City.
