Douglas Eugene Charles, 53 years of age of Grundy, VA passed away Thursday, October 28, 2004, in the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA. Born in Buchanan County he was the son of Marie Baldwin Charles of Grundy, VA and the late Andy Charles. He was of the Christian Faith, a retired coal miner, a avid mechanic who enjoyed working on old cars.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one granddaughter, Alexis Shea Hamm.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Connie Shortridge of Grundy, VA, one daughter, Sherry Hamm and husband, Matthew of Tazewell, VA. One son, Scott Charles of Winchester, VA. Three sisters, Belva Oquinn of Haysi, VA, Pat Blizzard of Grundy, VA and Sue Woodson of McKenzie, TN. Two brothers, Rondall Charles and Bobby Charles of Grundy, VA.
He is also survived by one granddaughter, April Dawn Faith Hamm.
Funeral services for Douglas Eugene Charles will be conducted Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stacy Church of God with Evg. Michael Trent, Rev. Ronnie Rife and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Charles Stacy cemetery on Stone Coal, Grundy, VA.
Family and Friends will serve as active pallbearers.
