FRANCA G. ADDIS, 80, of LAKEWOOD, died Monday, May 14, in Lakewood. She was employed by numerous companies as a chemical lab technician, retiring from IFF in Union Beach. Born in Montecatini Terme, Italy, Franca was a World War II bride who met and married U.S. Army soldier Ralph Elliot Addis on Dec. 1, 1946.

Leaving her beloved Tuscan hometown in 1946, she became a U.S. citizen and continued to return to Italy with her husband, children and grandchildren on numerous occasions. The couple resided in Holmdel most of their life before retiring to Four Seasons in Lakewood in 1999. Franca remained active in bowling, bocce, cards, Italian American club and art classes. Although her strong love for Italy lasted a lifetime, Franca also traveled 49 states with her beloved husband. Lover of the outdoors and nature, she opted for camping, and the RV became a second home during retirement. Franca will be remembered for her special talent and flair for Mediterranean cuisine and the unique ability to bring family and friends together around the dinner table. Her generous and giving spirit will be deeply missed by friends, family and neighbors.

Surviving are her twin sisters, Anna Innocenti and Maria Taddei of Italy; three children and their spouses, Elaine and Frank Clymore of Bayville, Kevin Addis of Lakewood, and Debbie and Steve Comer of Riverview, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Brian, Staci, David, Joann, Danny, Sara, Mark and Jolene; and six great-granddaughters.
