MORRISDALE - Jacob Sabol, 81, of Morrisdale died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 10:45 a.m. at his residence.

Born Sept. 2, 1926, at Morrisdale, he was a son of George Sr. and Susanna (Perow) Sabol.

Mr. Sabol was a member of the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in World War II and was awarded the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Mr. Sabol has been employed by Bailey and K&J Coal Co. as a dragline operator.

On Jan. 20, 1956, at Leesburg, Va., he wed Mary (Hoffner) Sabol, who survives in Morrisdale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Catherine Cowder and her husband, Dennis and Sara Folmar and her husband, John, of Morrisdale; three sons, Timothy Sabol and his wife, Donna, and Paul Sabol and his wife, Wendy, all of Morrisdale and Edward Sabol and his wife, Zuhua, of Newark, Del.; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Haney, Justin Cowder, Jessica, Molly, Christie, Christopher, Sara and Jasmine Sabol; and a great-granddaughter, Mary Catherine Marie Haney.

Also surviving are three sisters, Jean Lingenfelter of Forest, Yvonne Fetcenko of Philipsburg RD and Nancy Smeal of Morrisdale RD; and two brothers, William Sabol and his wife, Carolyn, of Morrisdale and George Sabol Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Philipsburg.

Mr. Sabol was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen B. Allen officiating.

Friends will be received Saturday, April 12, from 7-9 p.m. at Strange and Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, and Sunday, April 13, from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of services at the church.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, Pa. 16830; or to Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Bell Fund, P.O. Box 185, 369 Allport Cutoff, Allport, Pa. 16858.
