THOMAS ALLEN LAYNE, 59 years of age of Oakwood, VA passed away Friday, March 5, 2004 at his home. Born in Buchanan County September 2, 1944 he was the son of Eunice Coleman Layne Roberts of Abingdon, VA and the late Lawrence Leon Layne. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, attended Grundy High School and was a self-employed auto mechanic.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Jim Roberts; one daughter: Marquite Dunlop and one brother: Larry Joseph Layne.
He is survived by his mother: Eunice Coleman Layne Roberts of Bristol, VA; three daughters: Tammy Walker of Grundy, VA, Marie Layne of FL and Crissie Layne of Detroit, Mich.; two sons: Jeffery Layne of Detroit, Mich and Pete Layne of FL.
Funeral services for Thomas Allen Layne will be held Monday, March 8, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA with Reverend Dickie Joe Plaster and Reverend Danny Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be David Shortridge, H. B. Coleman, Jack Mullins, Sonnie Plaster, Dewane Ramey and Camron Ramey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Keene, Tony Layne, C. A Ramey, Bobby Ramey, Chris Ryan Church, Charlie Franks, Rickie Coleman, Ronnie Coleman, Terry Coleman, Ridge Coleman and Junior Layne.
