Born in Smyth County, VA July 12, 1942, he was the son of the late William Shell Patrick and Susie Thomas Patrick Brown. He was employed for 31 years for Buchanan Oil Corp., was of the Christian Faith, enjoyed fishing and was a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister: Betty Hope Stowers; one brother: Bill Patrick and mother-in-law: Oma Cantrell Hurt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years: Oma Geraldine Hurt Patrick of Oakwood, VA; one daughter: Amy Christine Lacasse and husband Michael of Dayville, CT.; one son: William Craston Patrick and wife Wendy of Council, VA; his father-in-law: Abe Hurt and step-mother-in-law: Shirley Hurt of Abingdon, VA. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Douglas McArthur Patrick will be held Sunday, March 21, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA with Evangelist Bill Boyd, Reverend Jerry Wilson and James Duty officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Family and Co-Workers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Judy Street, Dr. J. G. Patel, Dr. Larsen, Bill and JoAnn Lester, Jamie Stiltner, 3rd Floor Nursing Staff and the Gift of Love.
