She was born December 1832 in County Sligo, Ireland, and died April 14, 1921 in Arcadia, Wisconsin. daughter of PATRICK SCANLON and BRIDGET.

After coming to America, she made her home in Illinois which at the time was the western extreme of civilization, being the end of the most western railroad. Later she went to Manistee, Michigan where she met James McWeeny. Married JAMES MCWEENEY on February 17, 1855 in Manistee, Michegan.

In 1843 The Scanlon family, which included seven children came to the US from Sligo to escape a famine in their own land and located at Oswego, NY. Thence they later removed to Chicago, where the mother, Bridget, died. The father, Patrick, died in Illinois. In 1857, two years after their marriage, James and Catherine McWeeny came to Wisconsin, accompanied by their first-born child, John.
