Mallory, June 5,-W. Vance Berry, 55, died suddenly Saturday afternoon, May 25, at Dillon.
While Mr. Berry had been in failing health for quite a while, his condition was such that from time to time he appeared to be in the best of health.
Mr. Berry, a son of the late Henry T. and Nancy C. Berry, was born and reared in the Mallory section and had been a resident of Dillon and Marion counties practically all of his life. For the past few years he had made his home near Dillon in what is known as the Dothan community. He made farming his profession and exercised skill and judgement in his farming operations.
Besides his widow, who was before marriage Miss Temple Campbell, he is survived by the following children: Misses Laureston, Oneita, Anna Mae and Nalee Bell, Blandon, Jack and Andrew.
Funeral services were in charge of his pastor, the Rev, Woodrow Ward, of Latta Methodist Church, and the Rev. C.S. Felder, pastor of McCall and Tatum churches. The latter for a number of years was a pastor of Mr. Berry. The Masons had charge of the closing services. Interment was made at Catfish Cemetery.
