ENID — Funeral service for Charles Richard Wilson, 86, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Enabnit officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charles was born to Charlie and Leona (Simmons) Wilson on June 19, 1926, in Enid, and passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his home in Enid.

Charles graduated from Enid High School.

He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He received his Naval training in San Diego, Calif., and was then sent to Hawaii.

After his honorable discharge, he returned home and married Violet L. Means on June 22, 1947, in Enid.

He worked at George E. Failing Company, and was transferred to the Midland, Texas, branch in 1951.

They returned to Enid in 1954, where he was the Factory Store Manager. After 431⁄2 years of service, he retired in 1990.

He was a loving husband and devoted father. Charles coached little league baseball and enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with family and friends. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at all their sports activities.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Wilson Springer; stepfather, Joseph Springer; and father, Charlie Wilson.
