Salinas – Matilda A. "Tillie" Corvello, 59, of Salinas, a former nurse's aide, died of cancer Saturday at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Seaside. She grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and was a 1954 graduate of Monterey High School. Mrs. Corvello moved to Salinas 22 years ago and worked as a nurse's aide at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. She was a past member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and was active in the senior bingo program at lamplighter Mobile Home Park in Salinas. She is survived by her husband, (LIVING); a daughter, (LIVING) of Salinas; two sons, (LIVING) of Okuska, Japan, and (LIVING) of Gulfport, Miss.; three sisters, (LIVING) of Prunedale, (LIVING) of Pacific Grove and Leona Avil[a] of Seaside; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel, followed by burial in Mission Memorial Park in Seaside.
