Excerpt – Mrs. Lydia Ann (Bowers) Cuppett, widow of the late Lee S. Cuppett, was a daughter fo the late Rev. Jacob Bower and wife. She was born near Kingwood on Dec. 26, 1852, and died Dec. 11, 1911, aged 59 years, 11 months and 12 days. On May 19, 1870, she was married to Lee S. Cuppett of Glade Farms, this county, at which place she resided until her death. To this union was born four children: Myrtie, now the widow of Homer VanSickle; Theodosia, the wife of Worley Miller; Ora, now married to Victor Miller; and Anna, wife of James B. Frazie. After the death of her companion Mrs. Cuppett remained on the old homestead with the last named daughter. She was a member of the Lutheran church for about 41 years, and lived the life of a Christian, dying in a Christian’s hope. The funeral service was conducted by Rv. J. Thomas, assisted by Rev. Dana Feather. Interment was on the old Cuppett cemetery at Glade Farms. Besides the four daughters she leaves three grandchildren; four sisters and five brothers: M. D. Bower of San Diego, Cal.; J. A. Bower of Colorado Springs, Col.; D. W. Bower of Lincoln, Neb.; C. E. Bower of Calif.; W. W. Bower of Colorado Springs, Col.; and Mrs. F. T. Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. I. N. Forman of near Kingwood; Mrs. O. L. Smedes of Des Moines, Iowa; and Mrs. W. S. Kerr of Roanoke, Va. In addition to her widely scattered relatives she leaves a host of friends to mourn her departure.
