John C. Andreu, Sr., 58, of Palatka, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 1996, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
He was a native of Miami and grew up in St. Augustine, where he graduated from high school. He has lived in Palatka for the past 2.5 years, coming from Plant City. He was a member of the St. Johns Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Eastern Airlines for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He was employed by Wal-Mart in Palatka in sporting goods. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Andreu.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara A. Andreu of Palatka; mother, Gertrude Frances Dekle of Bunnell; daughter, Lu Ann Johnson of Plant City; son and daughter-in-law, John C. Andreu Jr., and wife, Sue, of Plant City; sister, Mary Elizabeth Andreu of Norcross, Ga.; brothers, Bernerd Andreu of East Palatka, Joseph Andreu of Cleveland, Ga.; four granddaughters.
The funeral is 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, 1996, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka, with Rev. Armand Coulliette officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 23 Feb 1996.)
Note: Joseph Andreu died in Clevland, GA on April 19, 1996. He was in the St. Augustine High School (Previosly Ketterlinus)Class of 1960.
J.C. graduated from Ketterlinus High School, St. Augustine, FL in the Class of 1956. His brother, Bernard, was also in Class of 1956. Both nice guys. I recall in the early 1960's J.C. was working for the Dairy in St. Augustine, making local deliveries.
Always considered him a friend.
