Larry Ray Carrell
Larry Ray Carrell, 63, Nampa, died Thursday, at a Nampa hospital. Larry went to be with the Lord from an unexpected heart attack early Thursday morning, May 10, 2007.
Larry was born on Nov. 12, 1943, in Tulsa, Okla. He was the third of seven children. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. His meritorious service to our country was something he held with pride, although he seldom discussed with us details of his service. Larry married Carla Cummings on Dec. 18, 1970, at the Jewett Chapel on the College of Idaho Campus. They have lived in Nampa all of their 36 years of marriage. During this time two beautiful daughters were born to them, Michelle and Melisa. Larry was the happiest when he was in the mountains. His favorite time of year was hunting season. He spent every spare moment during the season with his brothers, brother-in-law and nephews, having a great time! He bow hunted competitively for many years and always went rifle hunting for deer and elk. He hunted every year and rarely came home empty handed. Fishing was a second passion. He especially enjoyed all of the camping and fishing trips through the years, not only with his children, but lots of extended family. Larry worked for Idaho Concrete Pipe for 12 years as a welder. He then worked various jobs, including carpentry in Mountain Home with his brother-in-law and best friend, Dick Ness. Larry retired from the physical plant at Albertson College of Idaho in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Carla, of Nampa; daughter, Michelle Belville and granddaughters, Samantha and Hannah Belville, of Boise; daughter, Melisa (Jeff) Johnson and grandchildren, Cassandra Howell, Braiden Howell, step-grandchildren, Hale Johnson, and Skylah Johnson of Nampa; brothers, Pat (Betty) of Louisiana, Mike (Judy) of Nampa, Jim of Parma, Bill of Oklahoma, Ron of Caldwell; and sister, Lynda (Conley) Freeman of Caldwell; also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom Larry loved dearly.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Roy Carrell; mother, Lucille Price; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Vera Cummings.
Even though Larry was a man of few words, none of us ever doubted the immense amount of love he had for us. His trademark farewell was, "Are ya leavin' already?" and that is how we feel about him now. We were simply not ready for him to leave us. I still have a lot of Love to give to you - you just left too soon. Love, Carla. Graveside services for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, in Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
