Mr. Barrere, 78, of Evergreen, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 1994 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was a retired Army Sgt. 1st Class - 20 years. He was born July 23, 1917 and was a native of Bordelonville. His parents were the late Forrest Barrere and the late Harriet T. Barrere.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Barrere; one son, Clayton Paul Barrere of Hessmer; three stepsons, Jeff Moses of St. Landry, Wilson Moses and James Moses, both of Evergreen; two daughters, Deanna Barrere Wright of Evergreen, Janelle Barrere Ducote of Opelousas; one step-daughter, Christie Cooper of Evergreen; one brother Forrest Barrere of Bordelonville; four sisters, Ena Armand and Maggie Bordelon both of Moreauville; Madgie Dufour of Baton Rouge, and Stella Daigrepont of Metairie; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were SPC Toler, SPC Bordick, SPC Scott, SPC Richardson, PFC Martinex, PFC Prince, Sgt. Dudley and SSG Leigh Fun Ded NCLC all members of the Fort Polk Funeral Detail. Full Military Honors were provided for Mr. Barrere.
