Wilda "Marilyn" Smith, age 85, of Carl Junction, MO passed away at 10:35 a.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.

Marilyn was born August 22, 1927 in Pittsburg, Kansas. She lived in the Carl Junction-Webb City areas most of her adult life. Marilyn was employed as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Webb City Business and Professional Women's Organization.

Marilyn is survived by two sisters, Polly Hannemann, Sanger, CA, Judi Smits and husband Richard, Clovis, CA and by two brothers, Jeff Smith and wife Connie, Baxter Springs, KS, and Rex Smith, Long Beach, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffrey T. and Lorah E. (Clugston) Smith, and two sisters, Marjorie Roberts and Jo'an Christophersen.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home followed by Graveside services at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery. Nephews will honor her life by serving as pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, MO.
