Enlisted and mustered in 8 January 1864 at Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, Troop M, Michigan 2nd Cavalry Regiment as a Private; he was residing in Marshall, Calhoun County, Michigan prior to his enlistment at 22 years of age; joined his unit on 18 April 1864 at Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee; died of diesease (acute dysentery) on 11 September 1864 in General Hopsital no. 19 at Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.
