In the 1870 Census, Leander, 3, was living with his parents, Robert and Marinda (Byron), his siblings, and two step brothers ((Robert’s first wife Mary Gleasen/Gleason having died in 1861), in Liberty Township, Jackson Co., OH. In 1880, he was still living with his parents and siblings in Liberty Township.

Leander married Deborah E. Sniffen on 19 Oct 1898 in Franklin Co., OH. In the 1900 Census, he was going by the nickname “Lee” and they were living in Point Pleasant, Mason Co., WV. He was an undertaker. In 1910 they were recorded in the Lewis District of in Mason Co, very close to Point Pleasant and Nellie had borne two children, Ruth, 8 and Robert, 6, both born in WV. Lee was a undertaker. In 1920 they resided in Point Pleasant. The only child listed with them was Ruth, 18, but they had 5 individuals rooming in their home. Lee was listed as a furniture merchant. They owned their home at 909 Viand Street. In 1930, also in Point Pleasant, Charles F. Harper, 19, born WV, and recorded as a son, was living with them. He had not been listed in prior censuses. Lee was an undertaker.

Lee died on 5 Mar 1932 in Galliopolis, Gallia Co., OH. He had been a funeral director. His parents were listed as Robert Harper, born in PA and Marinday (sic) Byron, born in Oh, and his spouse as Nellie Sniffen.
