Dr. Alfred C. Cotton July 12, 1916, beloved father of Mildred C. and John R. Cotton, a residence, 3218 Jackson-blvd. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. from Warren Avenue Congregational church, by George H. Thomas post No. 5, G. A. R., burial at Graceland cemetery, in charge of Garfield lodge No. 686, A. F. & A. M.

Our Birthday [May 18th]
Alfred Cleveland Cotton, physician, was born at Griggsville, Ill.; served as a drummer boy in the One Hundred and Thirty-Seventh Illinois regiment in the Civil war; graduated at the Illinois State Normal university in 1869; received his M. D. degree in the Rush Medical college in 1878; has been engaged in the practice of medicine in Chicago since that date; is a professor in Rush medical college and attending physician to children at the Presbyterian hospital; belongs to a number of medical societies; is surgeon in the Illinois national guard; author of several textbooks; was twice elected coroner of Du Page county, Illinois; is a Republican and a Congregationalist.

Cotton was chief of Cook County Hospital's infectious disease wards and taught at Rush Medical School, where he held chairs in pediatrics and the diseases of children. He also served as president of the Illinois and Chicago medical societies, the Chicago Pediatric Society, and the Chicago Examiner Association.
