Mildred Frances (Poffinberger) Abraham, 77, of 14333 Tower Road, Smithsburg, died Monday, Aug 13, in the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Aug 25, 1912 in Foxville, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Oliver and Gazella Grace (Fox) Poffinberger.

Mrs. Abraham was the wife of former U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Commander Andrew Herman Abraham, who died Dec 14, 1988.

She was a lifelong member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Foxville, where she was a former president and held offices in the Dorcas Society of the church.

She also was a member of the Hagerstown Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 89 and AARP.

She is survived by a son, Robert Wayne Abraham of Smithsburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Ruth D. Spates of Sabillasville and E. Hortense Buhrman of Hagerstown; and one niece.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Charles Abraham.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Mount Moriah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Russell E. Knutson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
