Private First Class Combs USMC was passenger on-board US NAVY NATS flight aircraft# 131612. The aircraft was a R6D1 (DC 6) type. While, making an approach to Hickham AFB, Hawaii at 0216 AM in the morning from the west. The aircraft impacted "PaliKea" mountain just outside US Naval Magazine, Lualualei, Hawaii. No survivors were noted. His home of record was St. Louis, Missouri. Further investigation of this person revealed that PFC Combs was wounded during the battle for Iwo Jima on Feb 19, 1945 but, returned to sevice on Mar 3, 1945. This site is dedicated to remembrance of this person. Rest in peace.
