Mary Louise daughter of John & Margaret Jane (Watts) Jewell married Frederick Lobb, son of Joseph Growden & Harriet (Lobb) Langsford in Hurley, Wisconsin on June 19, 1895. They moved to Dickinson County, Michigan & settled in the Indiana Iron Ore
Mine area in 1901. They eventually bought a farm on M-95 in 1906 which was passed down to son Joseph.
Fred was a miner for 10 years, operating the diamond drill & began farming in 1906.
He was a Republican representative 1925-28, served on the Breitung Township School Board from
1904-1920s, was Breitung Township Supervisor 8 years & was instrumental in building the Quinnesec
& Kingsford Schools.
The parents of 6 children, the older ones walked 5 miles into Iron Mountain to attend school & lived
with city families, working for room & board, to attend school in the winter months.

Mrs. Mary Louise Langsford, 69, died at 12:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon at her farm home
at Twin Falls, where she had lived for 29 years, following a paralytic stroke. She had been ill 2 days.
In addition to her husband, Fred, she leaves 6 children: Mrs. Clyde Johnson, Mrs. Harriet Williams,
John, Mrs. Margaret Stanaway, Joseph & James. Also 2 sisters: Frances Jewell & Mrs. Elizabeth Hambley.
