Dr. Van Vranken Died Early Today at Home In Story City

Special to the Journal.
Story C., Aug. 11--Dr. H. S. VanVranken, 69, veterinary surgeon, died at his home here at 2:15 a.m. today, from the effects of complications which had developed since he suffered a slight stroke about 6 weeks ago.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Evangelical church Saturday afternoon at 2:00, with Rev. G. L. Bergeman in charge. Burial will be in the Story City cemetery.

Dr. VanVranken first came to Story City from Des Moines about 25 years ago and here he was married to Mary Olson in 1917. They located first at Burt but in 1918 moved to Missouri. There they remained until 1924 when they came back to McCallsburg. Three years later they returned to Burt where he remained until three years ago when they returned to Story City and this has been their home since.

He leaves besides his wife, one stepson Raymond Strong.
