William Alexander McKenzie was the son of Presley Whalley McKenzie and the former Miss Mary Jane Morrison. William was born possibly in Randolph County, Alabama, where his parents were living in 1880.

William married Jessie Launa Brewster, with whom he had the following children - Henry Ertis, Alvie Loias, Bonnie (Ashley), Lula Beatrice (Underwood), and James Ollie.

William was found living in Lathamville, Alabama (Dekalb County) in the 1900 and 1910 US Census. Sometime before, 1910, he had relocated to Santa Rosa County, Florida, where he was enumerated in that year's census. By 1920, however, he had returned to Dekalb County, Alabama. 1930 found him living in Floyd County, Georgia.

At some point, he returned to Alabama. He was living in Gadsden, Alabama (Etowah County), at the time of his death.

It is interesting to note that one of William's grandsons stated that William's true middle name was Elexander. When William registered for the draft during WWI, his draft card was made out to "William Alexander McKenzie"; however, he signed as "W.E. McKenzie".

William was the grandson of Alexander Franklin McKenzie (1818-1894) & Malinda McKenzie; and William Elisha Morrison & Sarah F. Stevens Morrison.

He was the great-grandson of Kenneth McKenzie (1780-1868) & Elizabeth Payne McKenzie.
